Subject: Throop Muscliff Strouden Townsend and Holdenhurst Area Forum

Dear Head Teachers,

The following question was asked at the last Forum meeting held on 28 September 2009 and is recorded in the minutes:-

Question:

Could Forum write to all schools around Curlew Road / Mallard Road, regarding the litter and rubbish thrown down during term times?

Answer:

Councillor Trickett: He and Councillor Shaw were in Mallard Road / Craigmoor last week, looking at the areas. The litter is bad and shows a lack of respect. Much happens late in the evening, but young people throw food containers down at lunchtime.

We would be most grateful if you could advise us whether you can bring this matter to the notice of your school. Our next Forum is due on Thursday, 11th February 2010 at Bournemouth School for Girls.

Could we also take this opportunity to say that if you ever have any issues that you feel would be of interest to Forum Members, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

Wendy Sharp

Secretary

RE: Throop Muscliff Strouden Townsend and Holdenhurst Area Forum

Dear Wendy,

I continue to raise this with our pupils. Also you may recall that I wrote I think to the councillors to confirm that we had also taken a group of pupils on a litter pick up East Way when the situation was especially bad.

Best Wishes,

Alistair Brien

A follow up letter was sent to Bournemouth School for Boys and Bishop of Winchester School on 4th February 2010 and a response received from Bournemouth School as follows:-

Dear Mrs Sharp,

Further to your letter dated 4th February, I am able to advise that we have brought the matter of litter and rubbish in the area to the attention of the students during assemblies. We will also be arranging litter picks in the future when the weather improves.

Yours Sincerely,

Dr D Lewis

Headmaster
