Following the edict from Hazel Blears, the Secretary of State, stating that 7,250 houses should be built in the Green Belt around Poole and Bournemouth, including a NEW Town at Lytchett Minster, a South East Dorset Defence Consortium has been established by 7 Action Groups, (listed overleaf) supported by their local Councils and MP’s together with Dorset CPRE. |

The Consortium has agreed the prime objective of fighting this imposition which will desecrate these green, environmentally sensitive areas. |

“The Consortium brings together concerned local residence with their elected representatives,” says Nick King, Bournemouth’s Cabinet Member for Communication. “We want to ensure that a common, robust, message is sent from South East Dorset to the Secretary of State.” |

The Consortium is producing a guide on how to object, because the rules are tight. The Consortium is launching a series of publicity events to wake the public to the threats to their quality of life. These will include a “Save Our Green Belt!” March from Bournemouth Pier, a Demonstration at Westminster, and a crescendo of activity from the 7 Action Groups.
