Development of Former Library Site at Bradpole Road and Land at Craigmoor Avenue
The application's Publicity Stage ends on 4th May 2010.
To date, only one objection has been received, so it does not have to go before the Planning Board. The target date for a decision is 10th May 2010.
The Council has been working on developments of affordable housing and a new community centre on the above sites with Signpost Housing Association. The schemes were put on hold following the fall in the property market.
Gateway Board have made funds available to progress planning applications for both sites. On 17th March 2010, Anders Roberts Associates, the Council’s architect, submitted planning applications for 8 bungalows on the Craigmoor Avenue site (ref: 7-2010-24379) and 9 houses and a community centre at Bradpole Road (ref: 7-2010-3763G). The position of the houses fronting Vanguard Road will allow most of the Oak trees to be retained. Consultation ends 16th April, 2010.
The schemes respond to the comments that were received as part of the previous consultation and the plans are attached. The community centre and Strouden Library have been asked to display the plans.
It is yet to be decided whether the Council or a Housing Association will be building the schemes, however by obtaining planning permission it will enable the Council to move forward promptly once this has been decided.
